Summary of the Storyline
Black Butler Season 2/ Monoshitsuji/Kuroshitsuji II are all names for season two.
Black Butler 2 is set in the 1870's, in London, England. It starts off with a naked blonde haired, blue eyes boy , sitting at the bedside next to an old man. He is shown to have bruises and it looks like he was abused by the old man next to him "(his father)". He seems to be repeated the word darkness over and over again and walks towards the window ramming the darkness with his voice and then making a Faustian contract with a demon. The seal appears on his tongue contrasting Ciel's seal on his right eye. The story then progresses and reveals more of the blonde's past. Apparently he has taken the name Alois Trancy (but it's really Jim Macken) and is the Earl of the Trancy Manor. The Trancy's are "The Queen's Spiders" and their job is to " either erased people's pasts or replaced them with false ones to cover up the crimes (x)." However the story line does not revolve around them doing duties for the Queen of England. Then in the next scene we see a man in a overcoat appear at the doorway of the Trancy Manor, if you've watched season one or read the manga you can tell that its obviously Sebastian hiding his master, with a soul-less Ciel in the suitcase. Sebastian asks for the new moon drop tea box, that harbors Ciel's Ring (his soul was placed in it) and eventually all chaos breaks lose when his identity is revealed and eventually Sebastian manages to escape the Trancy Manor along with his master and the New Moon Drop. Alois then orders his servants to go after him but tells Claude Faustus to stay. By then Sebastian is too far and places the ring onto Ciel's left thumb and says, "It's time to wake up, young master."
This was the summary of episode 1, but eventually between episodes 2-4 we find out that Ciel has lost his memories. Episode 5-12 is where the story really begins. Basically, Sebastian is trying to retain Ciel's memories and Claude is trying to steal Ciel from Sebastian ( No one knows why still to this day) and Alois is deceived into believing that Sebastian killed his brother and Ciel is deceived into believing that Alois murdered his parents. They are both just trying to solve their issues and their demon butlers just want to consume souls.
To me, the story was written beautifully, especially in Alois' perspective. But they did leave many questions unanswered. Such as : What happened to Ciel and Sebastian afterward? and What makes Ciel's soul more delicious than Alois'? These cliffhangers make the story less effective and are too overused , especially in the Black Butler Community. Or maybe the writer just uses cliffhangers as a writing style just like she did in season one, and most manga chapters.
